This patient was unhappy with the deep wrinkles around her eyes. Anti wrinkle injections dramatically reduced the crow’s feet and produced a more youthful appearance to the skin.
Wrinkle reduction is an extremely popular treatment for men and women alike. It is used to reduce ‘frown lines’ between the brows; ‘crow’s feet’ at the corner of the eyes; and other forehead lines. These reductions are achieved through the use of Botulinum toxin, commonly known by the registered tradename Botox®.
Botulinum toxin is used to relax the facial muscles that contribute to the wrinkling. We inject the Botulinum toxin into specific areas using micro-needles and as the formation of lines and wrinkles reduces, the skin becomes smoother and more youthful in appearance.
Following treatment there is usually a noticeable difference to the appearance of wrinkles within seven days, and this continues to improve over the next two weeks. The effects generally last for three to four months, at which point repeat injections are required. After subsequent treatments the effects last longer and repeat injections are required less frequently.
Dermal fillers are a popular non-surgical treatment to help reduce the signs of ageing. They are injected under the skin to restore firmness and smoothness of the skin. At Carew Dental we use non-permanent fillers made from hyaluronic acid. We use hyaluronic acid as this is a naturally occurring substance within the human body, therefore, this type of dermal filler is extremely safe and highly biocompatible.

Carew Dental is able to provide pain-free dermal filler treatments by carefully injecting local anaesthetic into the gums to create a block that numbs the entire treatment area, and patients do not even feel the fillers being administered. Contrast this to many beauty therapists who use only a topical local anaesthetic to numb the filler injection sites, making for an uncomfortable patient experience.
