Before and After

This patient was unhappy with the deep wrinkles around her eyes. Anti wrinkle injections dramatically reduced the crow’s feet and produced a more youthful appearance to the skin.

This patient was unhappy with the deep lines running in the folds from her cheeks to her mouth, as well as having thin lips. Treatment required fillers to reduce the appearance of the nasolabial folds and discreetly enhance the shape and fullness of the lips.

This patient was seeking a discreet enhancement to the definition of her lips. The treatment required lip fillers being administered to the lips to provide volume and definition of the vermillion border additionally, more filler was injected into the left-hand side of the lips to improve symmetry.

Wrinkle Reduction

Wrinkle reduction is an extremely popular treatment for men and women alike. It is used to reduce ‘frown lines’ between the brows; ‘crow’s feet’ at the corner of the eyes; and other forehead lines. These reductions are achieved through the use of Botulinum toxin, commonly known by the registered tradename Botox®.

What To Expect

Botulinum toxin is used to relax the facial muscles that contribute to the wrinkling. We inject the Botulinum toxin into specific areas using micro-needles and as the formation of lines and wrinkles reduces, the skin becomes smoother and more youthful in appearance.

Following treatment there is usually a noticeable difference to the appearance of wrinkles within seven days, and this continues to improve over the next two weeks. The effects generally last for three to four months, at which point repeat injections are required. After subsequent treatments the effects last longer and repeat injections are required less frequently.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a popular non-surgical treatment to help reduce the signs of ageing. They are injected under the skin to restore firmness and smoothness of the skin. At Carew Dental we use non-permanent fillers made from hyaluronic acid. We use hyaluronic acid as this is a naturally occurring substance within the human body, therefore, this type of dermal filler is extremely safe and highly biocompatible.

More Information

Common treatment areas are:

  • Lips
  • ‘Nasolabial lines’ (which run from the nose to the mouth)
  • 'Smokers’ lines
  • ‘Marionettes lines’ around the corners of the mouth
  • It is also possible to treat other fine lines with dermal fillers.

Carew Dental is able to provide pain-free dermal filler treatments by carefully injecting local anaesthetic into the gums to create a block that numbs the entire treatment area, and patients do not even feel the fillers being administered. Contrast this to many beauty therapists who use only a topical local anaesthetic to numb the filler injection sites, making for an uncomfortable patient experience.

What We Can Do

Treatments are tailored directly to the needs of each patient. Taking the lips as an example, you may to have dermal fillers for multiple reasons:

  • To even out unsymmetrical lips
  • Fill ‘smokers’ lines’
  • Add fullness to the lips
  • Redefine the lips and cupids bow
  • A combination of the above

Following dermal filler treatments at Carew Dental, we offer an inclusive review appointment around 2 weeks later. This is to check that you are happy with the outcome of the fillers and to top-up any areas that you wish to appear a little fuller.

Effects of fillers usually last around 6–8 months, however, this differs from person to person and from one area of the face to another.
